    Description

This is for auction is local pick up only, please message me it you would like it shipped
I will list a auction with shipping if my converter will run your machine
This auction is for a static phase converter in a NEMA enclosure.
It will start and run a 5hp three phase motor on single phase 220 volt power.
If you use this converter panel to start a 5 horsepower 3-phase idler motor you will have a rotary converter.
If you have a medium or hard start application a static converter will
    NOT
    work.
If you are near downtown Los Angeles you may pick up the converter for free, I will connect the converter to 220 single phase power for you to see the converter work before we complete our transaction.

The most common mistake when buying a converter is buying one that is too small or the wrong type, a static when you need a rotary.
You should contact the company that made your machine to confirm what size converter you will need to run your machine.
If you are not able to contact the manufacture message me the horsepower of the motor in your machine and the type of machine you want to run.
    *******************************************
Buying a phase converter is amazingly difficult.
After figuring out the type of converter you will need, a static or a rotary, you have to decide on the size.
If you have a 5hp machine logically you would think you need a 5hp converter.
If you buy a 5hp converter I will guess you have only a 50-50 chance that it will do what you need.
The problem is a 5hp converter does not have enough power to run a 5hp motor at full power.
If you start a 5hp motor with a static converter it will produce between 2.5hp and 3.25hp.
For full power you will need a rotary converter that is at least twice as big as the the motor you want to run.
The confusion doesn't end here, if you have a 3hp
    20 inch
disk sander using the logic above you would think a 5hp or 7.5hp rotary converter will work.
That would be wrong, a 20 inch disk sander is a medium or hard start and you will need a rotary converter three or four times the times the size or a 7.5hp or a 10hp converter.
If you have a hard start machine, a air compressor or a wide belt sander you may need even a larger converter.
The best way to figure out what size converter you will need is to contact the company that manufactured your machine, if the company is no longer in business ask a company that sells converters.

I am sure you have noticed there is an amazing price range for the same horsepower converter.
On the high end the converters are nothing short of excellent, several of the manufactures build converters with custom chassis and lots of options.
Although relatively expensive if you can use the features they are well worth their selling price.
My converter does not have the options but it will do the same thing as the more expensive converters, it will start and run a three phase motor.
I hope you find this information helpful and if I any questions please message me.

If you are reading this sentence you must need a phase converter and realize firguring out what to buy is hard.
I will try to help by recommending what I think are the best phase converters.
If you do not need balanced voltages and want a easy to install converter and have a three phase motor 7.5hp or smaller I think the static Phase a Matic is the best choice.
If you need a rotary converter I have worked on North American Converters and America Rotary Converters and I think they are both excellent.
There are lot of other manufactures but because I do not have personal experience with them I cannot recommend them.
